Youth for Environment in Schools' Organization (YES-O)

(Dress by ZARA)
I had the privilege to have been invited to be one of the panel of judges for the "Search for Mr. and Ms. YES-O for School Year 2011-2012" held at the Dona Maria Auditorium of the Jose Zurbito Sr. Elementary School, last 11/11/11.

Let me give you a backgrounder of what YES-O is about. YES-O  or The Youth for Environment in Schools' Organization (YES-O) came to life through the Department of Education Order No. 72 Series of 2003. It has the following objectives:
1. To be aware and create awareness in others of the state of the Philippine environment and ecology, including prevailing issues and concerns relative thereto;
2. To establish specific and doable programs, projects and activities that would address issues and concerns on the environment and ecology;
3.To network with other government and non-government organizations, including Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Organization in other schools within the division and region, with regard to support and assistance to programs, projects and activities of the organization;
4. To encourage community participation and initiative in environmental and ecological movements and actions; and
5. To develop among members and the community in general, proper environmental values, skills and attitudes.

I have taken some snapshots of the event. Hope you get the feel of it with the photos and it's captions. Also here below are Bible passages and verses which talk about the environment. I pray that you regain the passion to love our environment and ecology as you read through this blog. =)

They have conquered their fears, developed their personalities, improved on their confidence and talents and most of all learned the importance of environmental values. Congratulations everyone! May you inspire the youth in our community to pursue and achieve the aims of YES-O. Continue to be role models and share the good values to the bigger world out there.)

"Yours, O LORD, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all."-
1 Chronicles 29:11

We have been made stewards by God of His creations and it is only fitting that we care, protect and nurture them. Together with my husband- Vince, we task ourselves to teach and share to our own children the value of loving the environment. If all of us would do the same, chances are we would be able to save a great deal for our beloved Mother Earth.

Let's spread love for the life of the trees, the seas, the air beneath, the animals, the mountains and the hills, the natural resources that abound and all the manifold of beauty that has been left for our stewardship by the Lord. As we wake up each day, may we choose not to waste time, choose to protect, choose to reuse, reduce and recycle, choose sustainability and ultimately choose God! =) Let us do it now and may God bless the desires of our hearts!

A Mother's Love Letter to her son- King Vincent C. Revil

(invitation design by: Wishbone Services)

 “The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them.”- Isaiah 11:6

Dear King Vincent,

Mommy made this particular post, so that someday when you get to see and read this, you'll know how wide, how deep and how high the love God has for you, our youngest child.

"Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."-
 Ephesians 3:17-19
The photos here were that of your 2nd birthday celebration.

We (all of us-- me, your Daddy, Ate Jovi, Ate Bavick and Kuya Kevin) are so thankful to God that you were born and became part of our family.  You are the apple of our eyes. Daddy and I could not fully express the joy we have for having four wonderful children and with you as our youngest son. Your Ates and Kuya are as well so happy with you. They are always so protective and caring of you. Just as we equally love you all, they love you too so very much. And that is how it should be- brothers and sisters must love each other. This is Mommy's special request- please always be united as siblings. Differing opinions may occur among you, but at the end of the day, choose to be united and love one another. Support the one in need.

We know that someday you'll be on your own our dear children, and you'll have your own families and own children too, but still, we (me and Daddy) will just be here, and as long as we live, we promise that you can count on us. But as we always tell you, a spoiled child will not be tolerated at all. Discipline is necessary and remember that it is for your own good always.

Let me go back to my memories of when you were born...

It was a day after the typhoon Ondoy when I started to feel your eagerness to come out and join our beautiful world. Your Dad and I decided that you have to be delivered already so Mommy could also have a week to recover before classes would resume again. Classes were suspended for a week due to the rummages of the typhoon. Mommy was then 4th year at Ateneo de Manila Law School and had finals and a thesis defense 2 weeks after your birth so we had to make use of the no classes for a week so I can recover with my health and breastfeed you full time. In fact I did breastfed you until you were about 4 months old.

"When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world."- John 16:21

My whole pregnancy of you was normal. We were all very excited specially your Kuya Kevin, for then he knows that he will have his partner already. But oh dear son, you were born with a hole in your lungs! Our whole excitement turned into a big trial for the family. You were in the Neonatal ICU and X-ray was done to you about every four hours. An overdose of oxygen was made.  The doctor said, it was because when you came out, you cried first instead of gasping for your first breath of air, so your lungs collapsed.

But good news for "The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting..."(Psalm 100:5), in a week's time, you were completely healed, without any trace of that hole, not even a follow up medication or anything was needed. We held on to His promise of healing and restoration and He gave them all.

“For with God nothing will be impossible.”-Luke 1:37

That is true! We testify to the miracle that has been made. Our son, you were saved by the King of all Kings! Hence we named you "King" in honor of the King of our lives- God. We claimed it then that He will save you and truly He did! He breathed air that healed your lungs. You were completely healed and your health was restored like brand new. Your destiny is great our son, we believe.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."- Jeremiah 1:5

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” - Hebrews 13:8

By the time you get to read this, nothing has changed son. Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. He is that yesterday, today and forever. That's all that matters in this world, cause we are but passersby here. Our ultimate destination He has prepared. So put your trust in Him and everything else follows.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life …”- 1 Timothy 6:12

Together with your siblings, we urge you  to follow Jesus Christ's ways, for He is the only way, the truth and the life.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."- John 3:16

Remember, that grace is from Him, through His dying on the cross we were saved. He resurrected and conquered death and that is also given to those who believe and confess with their lips that Jesus Christ is Lord. So dear son, we hope that you'll choose to proclaim that good news. Here are some bible verses Mommy collected to guide you along...

"My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in."
Proverbs 3:1-12

"My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."-
Proverbs 2:1-6

"My son, obey your father's commands, and don't neglect your mother's teaching. Keep their words always in your heart. Tie them around your neck. Wherever you walk, their counsel can lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up in the morning, they will advise you. For these commands and this teaching are a lamp to light the way ahead of you. The correction of discipline is the way of life."-
Proverbs 6:20-23

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward- Psalm 127:3

- 2 Corinthians 9:8

"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."- Psalm 1: 1-3

"And you shall again obey the Lord, and observe all His commandments which I command you today. Then the Lord your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the Lord will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; if you obey the Lord your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and soul."-
Deuteronomy 30:8-10

"Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord."- Colossians 3:20
