Hey there! Remember when I told you that I formed a sorority at the Ateneo De Manila Law School? It was in this blog: Public Debut Speech as a New Lawyer, feel free to check it out by clicking the title given, if you haven't seen it yet. If you are an aspiring lawyer or a student, hopefully my story can inspire you. You may share it to others too if you like.
Anyway, so here with me in this post are my resident Victorian sisters and some of our alumnae. We had an exclusive get together at Lu, Rockwell where we chatted, had a light moment and just made time to bond as sisters.
So now, allow me to present to you the lovely Victorian women who seek to honor God, through the values of faith, integrity, wisdom and service. . .
Our faith in God is an expression of our love to our Creator and an acknowledgment of Him as our Lord and Savior. Whatever we do, whatever we are, whatever the circumstances around us are, His being God in our lives will not change and that's what we mean when we say that we seek to honor Him.
Victorians are totally different individuals with different backgrounds, personalities, faculties and abilities, yet we blend knowing that the purpose for which we have been formed is so great that it encompasses our personal differences.
We do not abdicate our unique personalities just because we become part of a sisterhood. As Victorians, we acknowledge our differences and we respect that. We try our best to be each other's good influence. We grow and learn from one another. We influence for the good and we support and encourage one another to excel, especially in our chosen profession. (We actually have a sister who topped the bar 2 years ago: Naealla Rose Mercado Bainto, now working with the Office of the President.)
In time we develop deeper friendships and love among each other. As we are guided by our goal of honoring the Lord, we work our differences and lead one another to do our best at all times. We may have differing opinions and ways in doing things, but at the end of the day we resolve them in light of our purpose for our sisterhood.
The bond that we share is something that we really treasure. We are Victorians and we vow to love each other.
Throughout the generations to come we believe that we will survive and stand the test of time. As long as we stand by the purpose that we have for Victoria, we believe that God will always be there for this sisterhood.
We are not for quantity but always for quality. Most of the sisters are honors and at the top of their batches. Most if not all are active too in other extra curricular activities and are leaders in their chosen groups--> Human Rights, School Choir, School Paper, Teehankee Center for the Rule of Law, Ateneo Law Bar Operations Committees to name a few.
We do not hamper the growth of our own sisters, hence we encourage them to spread their wings and reach greater heights. But in the pursuit of such, we do not forget our second most important value that is Integrity. It is that of being the same person that we are with the same good values that we espouse, regardless of who we are with or where we find ourselves to be. It is being consistent with our faith in God and the dignity and respect that we owe to ourselves and to others as well.
In our pursuit of legal education, we also seek for wisdom, that is the ability to use and apply in the best way, the knowledge that we have learned. We believe that nothing can rise higher than the source and for that wisdom is sourced from God, through His teachings and words as found in the Bible. It is also gained through experience and through the people who teach us valuable lessons in life. But all these have its roots from the source.
This sorority was not formed just so we can consume it among ourselves. Part and parcel of the plan is for us to give service to others and not just among ourselves for service is that of above self. It is a form of sacrifice. It is choosing to get out of our comfort zones so we can extend ourselves to others.
All this is to give glory to God, our Creator who first loved us. We can never repay all the goodness He has shown us and we praise Him for everything that we are. Our serving others is our way of saying "Thank you Lord for everything."
Now, this is our latest activity--> a raffle draw for a cause. If you want to buy a ticket and support our cause please contact any of the Victorians here: Victoria Group
