Youth for Environment in Schools' Organization (YES-O)

(Dress by ZARA)
I had the privilege to have been invited to be one of the panel of judges for the "Search for Mr. and Ms. YES-O for School Year 2011-2012" held at the Dona Maria Auditorium of the Jose Zurbito Sr. Elementary School, last 11/11/11.

Let me give you a backgrounder of what YES-O is about. YES-O  or The Youth for Environment in Schools' Organization (YES-O) came to life through the Department of Education Order No. 72 Series of 2003. It has the following objectives:
1. To be aware and create awareness in others of the state of the Philippine environment and ecology, including prevailing issues and concerns relative thereto;
2. To establish specific and doable programs, projects and activities that would address issues and concerns on the environment and ecology;
3.To network with other government and non-government organizations, including Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Organization in other schools within the division and region, with regard to support and assistance to programs, projects and activities of the organization;
4. To encourage community participation and initiative in environmental and ecological movements and actions; and
5. To develop among members and the community in general, proper environmental values, skills and attitudes.

I have taken some snapshots of the event. Hope you get the feel of it with the photos and it's captions. Also here below are Bible passages and verses which talk about the environment. I pray that you regain the passion to love our environment and ecology as you read through this blog. =)

A Dance Presentation

 "By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. With the Organizers, the School Supervisor and Principal  and the Contestants. (For me, all of these contestants are winners. They have conquered their fears, developed their personalities, improved on their confidence and talents and most of all learned the importance of environmental values. Congratulations everyone! May you inspire the youth in our community to pursue and achieve the aims of YES-O. Continue to be role models and share the good values to the bigger world out there.)

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."-Revelation 4:11

 Jovi, my eldest daughter won 2nd place to the YES-O Essay writing contest. Again, I'm such a proud momma! =)

"Yours, O LORD, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all."-
1 Chronicles 29:11

We have been made stewards by God of His creations and it is only fitting that we care, protect and nurture them. Together with my husband- Vince, we task ourselves to teach and share to our own children the value of loving the environment. If all of us would do the same, chances are we would be able to save a great deal for our beloved Mother Earth.

Let's spread love for the life of the trees, the seas, the air beneath, the animals, the mountains and the hills, the natural resources that abound and all the manifold of beauty that has been left for our stewardship by the Lord. As we wake up each day, may we choose not to waste time, choose to protect, choose to reuse, reduce and recycle, choose sustainability and ultimately choose God! =) Let us do it now and may God bless the desires of our hearts!
