A Raffle Draw for a Cause Sponsored by VG Vince Revil (Kasadyaan san Kabataan sa JZSES, A Tribute to Our Beloved Alma Mater)

Amy Grant once said "Giving is never accidental, it is always intentional."
I totally agree with her, for indeed, giving is a decision that we make. It is an act that we choose to do. It is never compelled nor imposed upon. For surely, it comes only from the benevolence of our hearts.

As School PTA President, I initiated to hold a raffle draw for the students of JZSES. Prior to the Raffle Draw was a day dedicated for games and fun for the children. The kids together with the teachers and us the parents, really had a great time with the playing and bonding activity we had. The children learned and enjoyed at the same time. Sportsmanship, alertness, presence of mind, friendship and wisdom went hand in hand during the "Kasadyaan san Kabataan".
Good thing, we had some donations and most especially the raffle draw prizes of P5000, P4000, P3000 and 10 P500s which were donated by my public servant husband- Vice Governor Vince Revil. I am really thankful that we have been placed in the position that we may extend service above ourselves.

We are both products of JZSES and we are forever grateful to all our teachers who shaped us to who we have become.  Thank you Sirs and Ma'ams for all the hard work and inspiration you shared with us.

Now, it is our time to give back.

For the good of the school.

For the love of the teachers.

For the support of its activities and causes.

 For priority of Education.

For the best interests of the children.

For the welfare of our beloved Alma Mater.

It is our honor to help.

As much as we can and as much as possible.

It is our way of saying "Thank you for everything!"

Together with the School PTA, JZSES we love you!

You will always be dear to our hearts.

From this generation to the next,

we salute you for a job well done!

We pray that God always be at the center of this institution.

To guide and guard, to protect and love.

We also pray that this children to whom we give our hearts to would someday also do the same- just like when we used to be kids, some other people too offered their love and we were the recipients. Now it is time to give back.

Lead in giving.

Serve without counting the costs.

 Love...
Love...
Love...
For God is Love.

Now let me share with you through these photos what happened with me during that day when I made the entry at Chictopia.

My children participated at this event. I brought them to school.

(bracelets from my mom)

(necklace made by my niece Dimple Revil)

(tadahhhh... the mommy look) =)

By the way, it was also a privilege to have been featured at the Home Page of Chictopia for having been an Editor's Pick. This is separate from the contest. It was more of because of the write-up made. You can check it here--   http://www.chictopia.com/editorspicks

Here's the write-up of the photo entry-

"The thought of being able to donate at least $1 to a charity by uploading an entry here is already enough motivation for me to join the contest. This is the first time I am joining one so I am really thrilled about it too. I hope you can help my urge to give a donation for this advocacy by making my photo entry a favorite. Thank you so much for the support! I am most grateful. =)
First, since this is Chictopia, let me talk about my outfit post. If you happen to read about my blog here before, I said something about not ever experiencing buying stuff online yet but that it doesn’t mean that I won’t ever give it a try. Indeed, due to all the influences I got from here, I tried online shopping and bought this dress at Romwe.com Click Here! . They have really nice stuff, glad to have discovered it here at Chictopia. Since I live at a Tropical Country- the Philippines, it’s mostly a sunny and hot day around here, so floral and summer outfit never get out of season for us, most especially in the Province where I come from- Masbate, which is an island. As for the accessories, most of them are from my mom, who got them from her recent trip to Europe. Charity begins at home as they say, and in this case, I am my mother’s recipient. =)The necklace is DIY by my very creative niece- Dimple. She made it and to support her venture, I have become an avid fan.
I especially chose wearing this outfit for this entry because I feel it looks natural, simple and most importantly it has a sentimental value for me. All that I’m wearing are “Firsts”. From the dress which is my first dress bought online, first item bought from Romwe too. The accessories from my mom are from her First time visit to Europe and my necklace is the First necklace that my niece made. My sandals and bag are from my First time trip to the US with my husband when he was granted a scholarship by the US State Department to join the International Visitor’s Leadership Program. All expense paid by the United States Government. Awesome!
Anyway, as for my chosen charity, this one is closest to my heart- the Real Life Foundation. I am an advocate of education for the youth. As our Philippine National Hero Jose P. Rizal once said “The youth is the hope of our nation.” I believe that for them to be that, they have to be equipped with the knowledge and wisdom that they can get from being educated. Real Life Foundation is a social and educational advocacy with a vision for transforming lives, families & communities through education. They especially give scholarships to the underprivileged youth. To know more about this charity group visit their website Click Here! or their Facebook account Click Here!
My photos by the way were taken at JZSES- my very own alma mater, a public elementary school in our Province. This is to emphasize that Education is an advocacy closest to my heart. The bracelet I’m wearing if you can check it out has a heart and a key. It symbolizes my heart for this advocacy which for me is a key for progress which our Country especially clamors to have.
I hope you can help me give a donation for this advocacy by making my photo entry a favorite. Thank you so much for the support! It really means a lot to me and most especially for those who can be sent to school if this entry wins."

Now, these are my two beautiful girls- Joeanne Vienyc "Jovi" and Jorin Viktoria "Bavick".

It was their first time to join scouting and they were really excited about it.

Their bonding as sisters have now went beyond the comforts of our home. For now they shared something they really treasured in their memories- the Girl Scout Camping. Here they were able to show their concern for each other a lot. From the simple preparation of the things they brought to their preparing their meals and eating them together and making sure that they are both safe. They told me how they learned to apply the Girl Scout Motto of always being prepared and that of the value of independence.

I didn't stay for long at their school, after taking these photos I left.

As I left the school, a smile was in my face. I was nostalgic of my childhood days too. I remember how life was as a simple child. It reminded me also of how time slips away fast. It used to be me who was a student in this school, now my children are the ones I bring there. It used to be me with my friends and classmates joining the Girl Scout activities, now I am still joining, but not anymore as the child but the mom. Oh how time flies!

Let me end with this short poem I made...

Winning Time
(28 November 2011)
by Kaye Revil

Time is precious, time is gold
We must always be foretold
 Use it wisely, even nicely
Serve and lead for God's glory

Conquer this, conquer that
Never this, never that
Choice is ours, Life is His
Live it for Him, don't be amiss

Many things can unfold
Time can tell, time will tell
But with Him, all is well
We are His through His mold

Time runs fast, the dye may be cast
So all our days, choose Him always
Lean not on our own understanding
But on Him- the all encompassing.

I hope you like it! Thank you.

Why, oh why?

I was recently made resource speaker to the Leadership Training Program for High School Students of the City Division of Masbate, held at the Student Center of the Masbate National Comprehensive High School last November 12, 2011. (It's my Dad's bday on that day. I was supposed to join my family for a trip but due to this noble task that has been given me, I chose not to go) So, I was assigned the topic "Planning and Organizing Meetings".

The photos here are of that event while I was there. The captions however that I placed are totally different as it was really a quite long talk I made to the students which took me about 2 1/2 hours without break, so I think that is quite lengthy to even discuss here. So, I'd rather talk about a few things in light of some of the happenings around.

I happened to come across a video talking about why we need to know "the Why" of the things we do, rather than "the What" or "the How." I pondered and searched within and somehow I agree that "the Why" which usually gets not talked of nor considered especially when we do our planning is actually the most important of all. Truly in the hustle bustle of our lives, it may be that we tend to not have time enough to really ponder on why we do the things we do or why we need to do the things that we have to do.

I believe that each of us has our own set of "Whys" in our lives. I believe however that we need to examine carefully the most important "Why" of all.

Here are some "Whys" worth considering--

Why are we driven to do all that we do?
Why do we prefer to not do some of the things we might need to do?
Why do we want to have these and those and not this or that?
Why can't we move on and rather get stuck at a quagmire we don't even want?
Why do we seem to not find joy despite of all the good things that are happening to our lives or to our loved ones?

As a kid, I remember being full of whys and even now as a mother I find my children doing the same. As a mother guiding young children, I know that I need to be equipped with knowledge and wisdom.
To be a mom, especially of four is no easy task. Apart from the physical and emotional demands needed of me, I also take responsibility for their spiritual upbringing. All these I cannot do on my own nor through the help of only my husband Vince. Because truth is it is only through Christ our Lord and through His grace that I can honestly say that I am able to cope with all the demands of life on earth.

It is only through Him. There's no other way. The happenings around, the actions and thoughts of others, the magnificence of creation and the universe are just a few of the many things our minds cannot fathom in full. And that is why we need God's grace in all the things that we do, in all that we are and in every waking moment of our lives.

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."- Hebrews 4:16

"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ
to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came
by Christ Jesus."- Romans 3:22-24

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."- Ephesians 2: 8-10

I hope we realize and always remember that God's grace is always available for all of us. Whatever may be our circumstances, He is the same God as He was to our forefathers and now for us and even for the future generation. Whatever it may be that we are going through right now, we can choose to lift it up to Him and He will surely give His answer.

From the moment I have realized that it is through knowing my life's purpose (the Why of my life)- that is to honor the Lord all the days of my life, that I gained real joy. The "Why of my life" is not something that differs from time to time, whether I'm at a high or low point of my being, for truly there is only one real purpose, which I've said is to honor Him. To honor is to accept Him as Lord and Savior. And when we accept Him, we will be guided according to His plans and purposes.

In my personal case, let me share that by the Grace of God...

I have learned to LOVE...

the Jose Zurbito Sr. Elementary School, no matter the politics;
the Masbate National Comprehensive High School, despite the differences;
the University of the Philippines Diliman, despite all the highs and lows
the Ateneo De Manila University Law School, despite all the challenges;
the Rule of Law, the Philippines, the Government and its People, despite of all the nuances;
 the Province of Masbate regardless of all the sacrifices;
my family, my roots, my heritage and my future, although I might not fully understand.

 Why?

Because, I love God and God is Love.

"For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose."- Philippians 2:13

But remember, we love because He first loved us.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."- John 3:16
